Michael Buckius joined Gateway in 1999 and holds the positions of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer (CIO), and is a member of Gateway’s Board of Managers. He is also Co-Portfolio Manager for several mutual funds advised or subadvised by the firm, including the Gateway Fund.
As Gateway’s CIO, Michael is responsible for overseeing the firm’s investment management and trading functions, as well as product development and servicing the individual client relationships.
Prior to joining Gateway, he was an equity derivatives sales professional at Bear Stearns & Co. and Bankers Trust Company in New York, where he specialized in the design and implementation of hedging and monetization strategies for high-net-worth individuals and corporations. Prior to his employment in New York, he held a variety of options-related research and trading positions at Alex. Brown & Sons Inc. in Baltimore.
Michael received his BA and MBA in finance from Loyola University Maryland, and he is a CFA® charterholder.
