Reasons to consider

The approach is centred on the conviction that secular change is a powerful driver of investment returns over the long term. As such, the managers invest in companies they believe offer solutions to the demographic, technological, environmental and governance transitions that are expected to transform the world’s economies and societies in the coming decades.

Unlike other investment houses, Mirova doesn’t rely solely on third-party ESG data providers. Instead, the Mirova Global Sustainable Equity team is supported by the firm’s in-house sustainability research team that not only evaluates the financial consequences of ESG criteria but also seeks to assess and report on the environmental and social impact of the assets in which Mirova’s teams invest.

A high-conviction approach, the team employs deep fundamental and valuation analysis to identify high-quality companies with strong competitive advantages, solid financial structure, and proven management teams, and implements a strict valuation discipline, fully integrating impact and ESG analysis throughout the process. The strategy has between 40-60 stocks, low turnover, and high active share.

The Mirova Global Sustainable Equity strategy has a dual objective to outperform the broad global equity market both in terms of financial performance and sustainability by investing in companies that contribute to sustainable development. As an Article 9 Global Equity strategy available to investors, the strategy has clearly defined performance and sustainable investment objectives.

“We want to offer investors a solution to invest sustainably and achieve returns better than the broader market - that’s our double objective”

Risks to consider

All investing involves risk, including the risk of loss. Investment risk exists with equity, fixed income, and alternative investments. Investors should fully understand the risks and other relevant details associated with any investment prior to investing. (1) Introduced in France in 2018 under the Pacte Law, a ‘société à mission’ company must define its "raison d'être" and one or more social, societal or environmental objectives beyond profit. The purpose, and objectives aligned with this purpose, must be set out in its Articles of Association. The Articles specify the means by which the execution of the Mission will be monitored by a Mission Committee (a corporate body distinct from the board of directors which is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the mission with at least one employee.) An independent third party then verifies the execution of the Mission, via a written opinion which is annexed to the report of the Mission Committee to shareholders and made available on the website of the company for a period of five years.

(2) Since 2006, the B Corp movement has been promoting strong values of change throughout the world to make businesses “a force for good” and to distinguish those which reconcile profit (for profit) and collective interest (for purpose). B Corp’s goal is to certify companies that integrate social, societal and environmental objectives into their business model and operations.
